Manaslu Region

Manaslu region is located in the northern himalayan range, in Gorkha district of Nepal. It derives its name from a Sanskrit word ‘manasa‘, which translates to soul or spirit and hence, the name implies, “mountain of the spirit.” 

Mt. Manaslu is 8th highest peak in the world (8,163 metres or 26,781 ft) and it dominantly towers over the surrounding landscape, surrounded by other peaks notably: Ngadi Chuli, Himalchuli and Baudha.

It is notable that this Manaslu circuit was open for trekking only since 1991 and thus it is not surprising that this region still retains its pristine environmental and socio-cultural roots. The off-beat experience of this region and rarely explored trail is lately pulling a lot of adventurers on its way, as one is sure to be amazed by the unique experience this trek can offer.  

The diverse floras and faunas are distinct to this place. One might be able to see rare endangered species like snow leopards, Himalayan musk deer, blue sheep, red panda, etc. while strolling the beautiful rhododendron forests and also Himalayan blue pine. 

This region resides within Manaslu Conservation Area and apart from the natural wonders this place offers, one will be pleased to see the diversity it offers in terms of culture, tradition and people. Mostly, Gurung, Tamang, Magar and Limbu people inhabit this area and they all have their own language, culture and way of life.  

Thus, this distinct combination of scenic wonders with distinct cultural heritage is bound to give anyone a unique experience of their lifetime. Needless to say, because of its relative isolation and off beaten trail, those who dare to venture in this direction will be rewarded with sublime memories and stories to tell.
