How to Get a Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit in Nepal: Cost, Documents & Guide Requirements

Planning the Manaslu Circuit Trek but confused about permits, costs and guide requirements? You are not alone. Unlike many popular trekking routes in Nepal, Manaslu includes a restricted trekking area, so international trekkers need specific documentation before entering the route.

Understanding the permit process in advance helps you avoid delays and ensures your trek complies with Nepal’s current regulations.

What Permits Do You Need for the Manaslu Circuit Trek?

The main permit is the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP), required for the designated restricted area of Chumnubri Rural Municipality in Gorkha. The current government fee is seasonal: Septemberโ€“November is USD 100 per person for the first week and USD 15 per additional day, while Decemberโ€“August is USD 75 for the first week and USD 10 per additional day.

You will also need the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP). The current NTNC entry fee for foreign visitors is NPR 3,000, including tax.

If your itinerary continues through areas within the Annapurna Conservation Area, an ACAP entry permit may also be applicable. The exact permit combination depends on your route.

How Much Does a Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit Cost?

There is no single total permit price for every trek. Your cost depends on the season, number of days inside the restricted area and whether your itinerary enters another conservation area.

Because government fees and procedures can change, confirm the current Manaslu trekking permit cost before departure rather than relying on outdated trekking blogs.

Can You Get a Manaslu Permit Online?

Yes, permit processing has moved to online systems, but this does not mean foreign trekkers can simply apply independently. The Department of Immigration states that restricted-area permits are issued through listed/authorized trekking agencies. Its application system requires agency and trekker documentation.

A registered trekking company in Nepal can prepare and submit the application, arrange payment and provide the permits before your trek begins.

Can You Trek Manaslu Without a Guide?

For foreign trekkers, Manaslu should not be planned as an independent trek. The Department of Immigration states that restricted-area permits are not issued individually and its FAQ says solo trekking is not permitted in these areas.

Working with a registered agency also makes it easier to coordinate permits, accommodation, transportation and local trekking staff.

Why Choose a Local Trekking Company in Nepal?

A reliable local trekking company in Nepal can manage the administrative details while you focus on preparing for the trail. Trek Venture Nepal can assist with permit arrangements, experienced local guides, itinerary planning, accommodation, transportation and pre-trek support.

When comparing options, look beyond claims about being the best trekking company in Nepal. Check whether the company clearly explains permits, inclusions, safety arrangements and current trekking procedures.
