The mountain Imja Tse, popularly known as Island peak is quite famous among the novice mountaineers as well as adventure trekkers. It stands at the elevation of 6,189m (20,305 ft). The peak was named Island Peak in 1953, by members of the British Mount Everest expedition because it looks like an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. The peak was later renamed in 1983 to Imja Tse but Island peak climbing remains the popular choice.

Overview

Island Peak trek will begin from Kathmandu will involve the usual route of Khumbu trek, that will lead to base camp and Kalapatthar. One will get to see a magnificent views of Mt.Everest, Mt.Lhotse and Mt.Makalu from a good vantage point and for many trekkers, the satisfaction of climbing a Himalayan peak, itself is quite a reward!

This is an entry level peak, so any trekker with good stamina can summit it provided that he/she goes through proper acclimatization training as well as basic mountaineering training that we provide at the base camp before the final push. Also, our experienced guide/team leader will assist you thorough all the necessary safety procedures, co-ordinate the climbing process and lead you to the summit. All the gears that we provide are of highest quality because your safety is very important to us, as no glory equates a human soul.
